Hmm, well where do I begin. I'm a just a free flowing wild thing trying to find my purpose in life. How do you know where to go, what to do, and why your'e doing it? Well, this is where I'll tell you how I figured it out, which I mean by trial and error, and maybe you figure out your journey through my hiccups. I am a college student, woking in the MMA world, loving life, and fighting Type 1 Diabetes daily.

USS Anchorage and TapouT XT

I basically have the coolest job ever!!! TapouT XT got asked to come aboard the USS Anchorage and do a personal workout with all the incredible men and women that fight for our country!!! With this opportunity of course I had to go!!! But it was midterms… but I guess I choose my own fate and destiny and when I am old I would much rather say I did this than got As on all my tests.

One of my favorite fighters, Mike Chiesa and trainer Mike Karpenko went with us and it was seriously one of the best days!! Warm, slight breeze, all day by the water what else could I ask for.  Both Mikes are so easy and fun to work with. I honestly am blessed to have the opportunities I do!! ImageImageImageImage

Chemistry 111

So, what is Chemistry? Of course we all know that chemistry is how elements react together, but I mean what is real chemistry?

I believe there is chemistry within every aspect of our lives. Chemistry to me is how things react together. You have chemistry with your mom, dad, brother, lover. How do you work together; explosive reaction, just fizzle, combined to make something greater? When you think about it every combination matters and creates a result. Do you like those results?

There is chemistry in everyday activities as well, how you react with school, a job, your family, under stress. Everything has an effect on you and everything is a relationship wither it be a good or bad. Any obstacle you face is chemistry, your reaction to the reactant. Diabetes is chemistry. Finding the right balance between sugar and insulin.

Everybody knows about the chemistry between you and a significant other. How is it measured, what is our chemistry, why do we have good chemistry compared to that other person?

So, there is a point to this. I am in my Chem 111 lecture and I don’t understand it 😦 Moral of the story I don’t have chemistry with actual scientific chemistry.

KC & Co.

Recently, I have connected with a number of families of newly diagnosed T1 kiddos. Each newby breaks my heart….it’s like the scab is ripped off again. I remember that feeling of being overwhelmed. Late nights, surfing the internet looking for something….

And I found a wonderful world of amazing families who are facing the same struggles we face. Families that know just how it feels to be battling the beast that is Type 1 diabetes. Each wonderful blog lists a roll of blogs they follow or suggest, which is really helpful. But I’ve come to realize that it can be hard to find the right blog. While I love reading blogs of the d-mamas with the little ones, and we do share so many of the same emotions, we aren’t at the same stages of development. For example, I have no idea how to potty train a toddler using an…

First Week of a New Semester

So it’s been a little over a week from my last post. Sorry for that:) This semester seems like it’s going to be killer!!

This semester I only have 14 credits or 4 classes with a lab. This is my smallest course load this far but it seems like it will be my hardest. I am taking Chem 111 (General College Chemistry) and Lab, Bio 228 (Part 2 of Human Anatomy), University foundations 300, and Adolescent Developmental Psychology. My Chemistry class and lab are seeming like they will be the hardest which sucks.

For my University Foundations class it is about how to market yourself to the professional work, so I have an ePortfolio in the process of being finished! Go check it out 🙂 http://taylornehereportfolio.weebly.com  *Remember it is a work in progress so don’t be to rough on it but I would love feedback!!

Human Anatomy is killing me with all the memorization but I know I can do it, cause I passed with an A last semester and I was taking 18 credits!

The Disability Resource Center screwed me over last week. With being diabetic I have to get all my professors to sign agreements acknowledging my disease and extraordinary absences, but since my lab only allows one absence and my UF class is a group work class absences are less than ideal and there is no need for an agreement because if I miss a class I can’t really make it up in any way. The DRC seems to think my professors just love getting bombarded with extra forms and that they have more time to work of the sh*t, which mind you they don’t! And neither do I!! I have to go back and get these 2 professors to resign a different form stating why absences aren’t makeupable! SO FETCHING STUPID!! Which the real kicker is I don’t even feel like I should have to fill out these forms but my university requires it.   Well there is my rant for the day, thanks for listening! 🙂

The Ultimate Fight

Every body has their ultimate fight, many even multiple fights. Their fight of a disease, for their dreams, for their family. There are many reasons you might have to fight. What is your fight for?

The title is a little misleading because I  have no “Ultimate Fight” but many smaller fights.

I fight for many reasons but mainly I fight for a future in whatever I want it to be, which is still to be decided.

College and getting an education is a huge thing to fight for! I know whatever I choose to do with my future learning and education will always be included. With a new semester starting I am reminded how much I love to learn and being educated.  Fight to be educated!!  Not everybody in the world has the right to be educated! So don’t miss out on that opportunity! It might be a challenge, it might be expensive, it might stress you out, but DON’T MISS OUT ON IT! EDUCATE YOURSELF!!

Secondly, I fight for my health! Health is something people take for granted. In other countries people die from things with think as not that big of deal, like the chicken pocks! Fitness and your health are both a big deal to living a long and healthy life! So when it comes to taking the elevator or  the stairs, choose the later. The fried chicken or the sandwich choose the sandwich. I know I’m not perfect but I try hard to not be the worsts. One time my doctor asked me “Taylor, do you know what it like to have diabetes in Haiti?” Me “Nope” Doctor “Well let me tell you. There is no Juvenile Diabetes, they al die. There isn’t insulin down there to control your blood sugars. They all die a painful death.” This may or may not be a little bit dramatic but either way it effected my immensely! I took insulin for granted but  not everybody has it. So, I fight for my health, as should you!

Lastly The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 starts tonight on Fuel TV and I am super super stoked!!! Team Jones or Team Sonnen! I am still undecided! I have met them both and have hung out with both so how do I choose between two of my friends??

My So Called “Disability”

The week before a new semester starts is always stressful… Getting all your supplies together, buying college book, remembering buildings and rooms and such. Well to add to that I have to go and meet with Boise States Disability Resource Center. Most would ask now why would you need that? Well, in my eyes, and most others I don’t have what most would call a disability.

I have type 1 juvenile diabetes and for most people who don’t know what that means: my body doesn’t produce insulin and I have to give it to myself.

So, for a new semester starting I have to go down to the disabilities office at my university and have them write out contracts for my professors to sign in case of any diabetic emergencies during class or an exam. For me I think it is totally annoying, I hate feel in like i have an excuse for everything or am different from everybody else. My professors are totally cool with helping me out and everything though. But this is what I did all day Friday, sit in an office and explain my issues to a disabilities counselor so these forms could be ready for my first day of school on Tuesday.

After that I finished off my transfer applications to Loyola Marymount University and University of Southern California! Both schools are for athletic training and pre-physical therapy!  So we will see how that goes! CAN’T WAIT!

The Options

The future is the big unknown, right? Well, what would you do if it wasn’t so unknown. That is the one question everyone asks themselves and there is always a reply, but never an action taken.

My future (as of right now) has these options open to me. They all seem like fun opportunities and with the next week or two I am going to post a blog about each and every option with pros and cons. Maybe some of you will enjoy it and have advise or input for me, that I would greatly appreciate. But more than likely everybody will ask, why is she posting this, we could care less about some random college and how it might affect her. Sure that is true, but hopefully with writing down all of he facts I will get one step closer to finding what I adventure I want to strive for. So here they are….

1. Antioch University (Fall 2013)-Business and Social Entrepreneurship in Los Angeles
2.Otis Art College (Fall 2013)-Advertising in Los Angeles
3. EOU- School of Nursing (Fall 2013) in La Grande, Oregon
4. BSU- School of Nursing (Spring 2014) in Boise, Idaho
5. LMU- Athletic Training (Fall 2012) in Los Angeles with opportunity to get RN or PT schooling
All of these very interesting and exciting opportunities how does a person just pick one of them?!
I also have aspirations to get into the WMMA (Woman Mixed Martial Arts) world with UFC. I know all the right people and have the drive to do it but currently where I live coaches and gyms are hard to come by. With moving to LA I would be in a better position to accomplish this goal.
I want to make my mark on this world but I just have to figure out the right way to go about that 🙂

The Hype

The hype about growing old… Where does it come from, how do we know what to be, why to be it, and how to be it?…. I think it is more life getting pushed off a cliff and hoping you fly.

With being a sophomore in college I thought I had it all figured out. I was going to be a nurse, help children with illnesses, be a great health care professional and volunteer at medical camps. But when mailing those final pieces of to nursing school admissions offices, something changed. Questions like what if I don’t like being a nurse, what if I suck at being a nurse, what if I hate it in 10 years, started popping up into my mind.

WHAT IF-  Probably two of the scariest, life changing, worst words you can ask yourself when trying to figure out your future. But seriously, who decided that right out of high school a person, kid may I add, is supposed to know what to do with their lives and to pick a major that affects the whole rest of their life, which hopefully will be 50+ years. That one decision can decide where you live, who you are as a person, who you meet, your friends, if you find your soul mate, what you do for fun, how stressful/adventurous your life is, and much much more! So who came up with the brilliant idea that an 18-year-old is capable and mature enough to decide a major factor that shapes the rest of their lives with minimal preparation.

There is the so-called “correct given path”. This path that you are supposed to follow will lead you to your correct life, occupation, family, and wealth, but how do we know we are on the correct path? I think there are multiple paths and all lead to greatness as long as you put your whole heart into it.  How to decide which path to follow is the real question. There are so many options and available opportunities. Life is so long and you don’t what to live with the regret of choosing one path over another, so how do you choose. This is where our culture is flawed. We live for so long but we rush, rush, and rush some more to become an adult but we don’t spend near enough time exploring ourselves and who we are, not who we think we should be. Our culture is so focused on getting that degree as quick as possible, getting into that job, and finding that soul mate but not enough time is spent exploring the world, finding all of our soul mates, and most importantly FINDING YOURSELF.

So the point of this blog to explore and hopefully find myself and which path fits me best. But I do know that

54676582946192387_1B0b3ush_bwhich ever path I choose I will but my whole heart into it because like my good friend says the time will pass anyways; might as well put it to its best use 😉

“Don’t let the …

“Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.”
Earl Nightingale

This quote is one of my favorites, and something I need to remember more often. I’m always worried about what if, why, and when. The time will pass, do what you love!
